Text messaging can be a powerful communication tool. It is a clear and quick way to share information with someone in real-time.
Go to any public place and you will see a flock of texters texting in a sea of text. But the how’s, why’s and when’s of the text is where the power lay.
So let’s look at when to use “Don’t call me, send me a text!!!”.
In business people like to send emails. They send emails as a reminder for an upcoming meeting. They send emails as a follow up on a meeting or conversation. They send emails to ask questions and find answers. Emails are great but when you want to reference one or look up an older one it can become time consuming especially on a smartphone. Without the internet here in Jamaica
My husband and I have a house here in Jamaica. We have the option of buying time for the internet. I’ve been here for three months and so I was buying it monthly. However, for this last week of my stay I decided that I could just wait until I get home than putting it on for another month. I bravely said to my husband, “It’s okay I can easily go without the internet for such a short time.” And so the tension began.
The 1st day came around and I felt quite lost but I told myself, ‘I can do this.’ Day 2 arrived and I was already having withdrawal symptoms but I kept thinking that surely I can go a week without the internet.

The internet is the life line for some of us. I am on the internet constantly. I am checking our website to see how it is performing.
I am tracking our social media sites. I am communicating through e-mail and texting. I don’t think I could go a day without it.
So when I talked to Pamela Hamilton (My Mom) the other day and she said that she wouldn’t have access to the internet this week I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine going a week without Google! She is finishing her last week of her winter vacation. She is enjoying the beaches and luxuries of the resort life. I can understand not checking the internet constantly this week but to not have access at all?!?!
We just launched our e-book, How to Say Goodbye to the Drama and just finished the next two. We have been communicating for weeks via the internet.
We also launched our campaign with Elite Book Promotions to build up our YouTube Channel and it is really starting to perform too. All of this is exciting and we always celebrate each milestone. So when she told me that she would be off-line for the rest of the week I thought, “Wow, that’s crazy”. Continue reading The Internet: Can you go a Week without it?
Getting an iPhone for free?
My daughter wanted an iPhone. She had an iPod for the last few years and it had seen better days. She wanted an iPhone for many months. This was something that was definitely on her mind and in her thoughts. The hurdle was, she doesn’t have money for an iPhone.
Not long ago I dropped my iPhone and the screen shattered as they so easily do. It was unusable. This is where opportunity presented itself. She asked me if she could have the old broken phone. Her plan was to bring the phone to the mall and find out how much it would cost to replace the screen. I gave her the iPhone and the quest began. Continue reading Getting an iPhone for Free?
It seems like every month if not every week there is a new gadget on the market. There are updates to programs for your computer, there are new social media sites and must haves. How can you keep up with technology?
I use to hate the constant updates to the programs I use. It seemed like every time I use my PDF creator they are asking me to download the latest update. My iTunes account continually wants me to update it. It is like they are playing a game with me to see if they can drive me over the edge. They want to drive me crazy and when I break down and up-date the program, all of a sudden I am lost. It doesn’t work the same way as it did before I updated it. WHY? WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME!?!?!
Once I calm down and I get it figured out I realize that this new version is better than the last one and everything is good for the next few weeks until they come out with a new update. The question is, how can you keep up with technology? Continue reading Updates, Why!?!?!
