Are We Our Own Antagonist? How to Manifest What We Really Want

Most people are the antagonist of their own story. Part One.

Without realizing this we have built a wall up that will stop any true desires of abundance, health and happiness reaching us.

How did this happen?

It happened quite easily because we have been conditioned to the belief of lack, as our parents have and their parents before them. In fact, it was a way to take control of the masses since the second century AD. The antagonist was the authoritative force of law that we feared at that time. We then allowed this force to change our beliefs. The problem is we "Are We Our Own Antagonist? How to Manifest What We Really Want"are still using these contrasting beliefs today. Most people conclude that their lives should be a struggle. Due to this inaccurate notion they have learned to attract lack. This is the void they live with.

Owing to centuries of this erroneous influence our lives have taken us in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, we are still living our lives from this backward conception through those antagonists that had existed so long ago.

This is how the masses live: most believe that life is a struggle and that it always will be. Simply put, they believe that this is what their journey consists of: deficiency, deprivation, need and emptiness. This becomes the void that most are trying to fill. This voice of insufficiency is constantly playing in the mind.

The antagonist then is the ego.

The antagonist/ego now is a part of you. It no longer lives on the outside. It is that voice that temps you to fill the void with: unworthiness, unwelcome things, failed relationships and unwanted experiences. It is an expert at this because you have bought into these beliefs by default.

Almost all of what we do runs counterproductive to what we really desire our lives to be, since we are trying to fill the void from a place of lack.

Universal Laws tells us a different story.

We have to fill the void first. We do this by understanding our worthiness. We have to embrace our lives and who we are. We do this by drowning out the voice that tells of our inferiority. This voice has been the greater part of us. This is the antagonist that now lives within. The ego part of us. "Are We Our Own Antagonist? How to Manifest What We Really Want"

When we believe in our lack then whatever experience we have in our life is coming from a place of lack and will only produce more lack. This is why positive transactions with money seems to be brief and fleeting. It is the reason why failed relationships and unwanted experiences happen. It is why our happiness is transient. We only seem to hold on to the good, desired parts for short periods of time.

There is a discord between what we desire and our chronic habit of thought.

Thought is where your power is. When you give persistent thoughts of lack and unworthiness you actually confirm these ideas. That is to say the antagonist/ego is given full reign to run your life, and it will always pick the side of lack and unworthiness.

We have to learn how worthy we are. This is where our true power lies. Our real job is to change our views about the reality we would prefer to see about ourselves. This means we have to recognize our own brilliance, our gifted talents. We all have them. We can have money, genuine relationships, great experiences filled with joy and happiness if we fill the void and understand that we are deserving of a wonderful life. This comes first. We have been doing this backwards. We have been trying to fill the void first with those desires so we can be happy. However, it tends to hinder rather than serve one’s purpose, since we have to find contentment and happiness from within first then all those desires will show up to add tremendously to that happiness we have already found. Like Attracts Like. This is a Universal Law.

Conflict! How do you Cope with Discord when You Are Confronted with it?

Conflict seems to play a major role in most people’s life experiences. The question is how should we react when the drama and conflict shows up to avoid being involved within it?

First, we have to understand what makes us react. What are our thoughts telling us at the immediate moment the conflict arrived on our doorstep? We have to be aware of what conflict initiates in our mind when it presents itself. The ego plays a major role in our reaction to things. Ego thoughts are those of resentment and grievances. It tells us we’re the victim and constantly reminds us of all the reasons why this conflict manifested. The "Conflict! How do you cope with Discord when You Are Confronted with it?"ego places blame and the more injured emotionally you feel the more the ego mind can maneuver you to more of what you don’t want, and that is profound drama. The ego will often hurl you to a place you would rather not go. At times losing the people you love because the ego loves to take advantage of the helpless you.

Where does the helpless me come from?

There is a false sense of the helpless me. It stems from fear. It is the thinking mind, the ego part of thoughts that is persuasive. It is the thinking part that actually convinces the helpless me to react out of a false awareness. Conflicts present themselves constantly and all they are is a situation or a person that says or does something opposite to what we agree with. It then becomes an unconscious psychic struggle. In many cases resulting in a hurtful clash. For some people a clash that may never resolve itself, or worse changing the relationship to “my enemy”.

We are not helpless. We are much more powerful than we believe. When we are in our power we have no need to allow the ego to take control. We are in control of our lives, and any situations that conflict presents.

When we are in our power the victim part of us dissolves into the backdrop of our lives. The helpless me cannot be in full force if we understand our ego mind and the way it works.

How do me and W.T handle this?

All who have read our articles and books and have been on this website before hopefully now know that me and W.T are mother and son. We work together. However, we have many different ideas. I am more spiritually centered and W.T is the logical part of this arrangement.

We often have disagreements to what our vision is. We are frequently far apart when it "Conflict! How do you cope with Discord when You Are Confronted with it?"comes to which way we should move our ideas forward. Our different age group plays a major role in how we handle things. Nevertheless, we have learned to agree to disagree. We have given each other permission to be who they want to be. Sometimes my hair stands on end and my eyes roll when I look at some of W.T’s youtube videos. And I know for sure W.T doesn’t share my endless chats about Esther Hicks, Abraham.

So what!! What is the big deal if we don’t agree? Why should we break up this wonderful partnership because we see things differently?

You see, there will always be disagreements and conflict in life. It is our reaction to it that makes it painful or not. The next time it presents itself in your life listen to what your inner voice is telling you. Is it the ego at play leading you on the wrong path? Listen. Always listen to the voice that is speaking. Is your self-talk really you, or is it the helpless you, the ego that has full control?

Take your control back. Listen to what the thinking mind is telling you and then change it harmoniously to where you would rather be in life. Simply put, reach for happiness first to avoid the pain of conflict. In other words, don’t take life quite so serious.

What is the Ego?

Most people look upon the ego as stamina and vigor but the ego is much more than that.

It is so powerful in each one of us that it can actually run our lives. It is masterful at keeping your thoughts on old negative ideas especially if they are linked to some sort of pain.

Countless ways

As children if strong negative emotions are not entirely tackled in particular that child may take the pain with it to adulthood. It then may manifest as anger, outbursts and mood swings among many. Much of the pain that shows up in adult life is due to the voice of the ego which is the voice of the pain that has long been left unnoticed. So often we do not understand why we feel out of control not understanding what is at play within us. These powerful feelings that the ego part of us personifies can interfere with and even sabotage any close relationships in our life.

The ego has many parts to it which may show in the voice of envy, jealousy, anger, blame, haughty, lordly and oppressive conduct.

The ego is our personal challenge in life. Our challenge is to tame it and become independent of it.

To tame it is to awaken and face those negative emotions. These may consist of feeling an addiction to unhappiness. Some people become so used to pain in their lives that they find themselves often in negative drama that actually feeds the ego. Most people are unaware of the ego and its ways and therefore oblivious to those negative situations that are constantly repeated.

Ego and How to Tame It

Ego, an Enemy to us All. These are extremely exciting times. Our human experiences are showing us the way. Life is calling us to wake up—be in the moment, and enjoy the fruits of life.

Regardless, it isn’t easy to always be conscious in the moment because the ego constantly places us at a disadvantage. For thousands of years ancient traditions have been telling us about this assailant that is within us. Buddhism translates it as misery, Hinduism sees it as a collective state of mental illness, Christian religion have called it sin. Charles Haanel calls it the enemy.
