Miracles Do Happen. Left for Dead, The Kay Hicken Story

Miracles do happen. The Kay Hicken Story

On the 20th December 2016, Kayley Hicken was walking on the sidewalk and out of nowhere, it would seem, came a car at full speed which was to change her life. This is taken from the newspaper, ‘The Sun’:

Family of young mum ‘left to die’ after shocking hit and run in Leicester urge attacker to ‘show human decency’ and come forward

Her family say son Lukah ‘misses his mummy’

Her aunt Gemma Middleton says she was close to death after the horror smash which left her with a broken leg, pelvis and ribs.

“It was touch-and-go at first and we did think we were going to lose her,” Gemma told the Leicester Mercury.

“Kay has a four-year-old son and he is really missing his mummy.

“We have had to sit him down and explain to him what has happened to his mum.

“If I could speak to the driver I would tell them, ‘If you have a conscience, stand up and be a decent human being and hand yourself in’.

Kay, who is mum to four-year-old Lukah, has already undergone a second operation – but is still on life support and in a critical condition.

Gemma, 35, added: “How they could leave her injured like that, I don’t know.

“We don’t know if the driver had been drinking or taking drugs, or if it was an accident and they were too scared to stop.

She has a lot of people who love her very much, but even people who don’t know her say they are praying for her to pull through.

“We are a strong family and we’ve been overwhelmed by all the messages of support we’ve received.

“She has a lot of people who love her very much, but even people who don’t know her say they are praying for her to pull through.

“She’s had her second operation today and she’s come through that okay, but she is still on life support and is critical but stable.

“She’ll go through another operation on Thursday, if she’s able.

“We’re all just waiting for good news.”

Leicestershire Police discovered a white Volkswagen Golf in Bretton Walk, Stocking Farm, Leicester, on the same day as the crash.
They believe it may have been involved in the incident.

Detective Inspector Chris Baker said: “The victim is currently in hospital in a stable condition but has sustained serious injuries.

“I believe there are people who may know what happened, and it is these individuals I am appealing to.

“If you were at a party in Brackenfield Way, Thurmaston, over the weekend, and think you could have information, please call us.

“Do you know someone who attended a party at this address? If so, please let me know.

“And, did you see someone driving a white VW Golf erratically or at speed late on Friday night or the early hours of Saturday morning?

“Please come forward and let us know what you know, saw, heard or have heard since.”

Since this article was in the newspaper Kay has had numerous surgeries on her pelvis, hips and legs.

Her family now call her the bionic woman due to all of the extra “pieces” holding her together. But what is amazing about this is what she overcame. When she came out of the coma she was told that the chances were she would probably not walk again due to the "Miracles Do Happen. Left for Dead, The Kay Hicken Story"major damage to her legs and pelvis. Regardless, Kay was on her feet after only weeks of this diagnosis. In fact, she is now walking with the help of crutches. She is even getting around the house without the crutches at times.

Miracles are in our reach. Kay is what we would call a miracle.

However, it is her belief in herself and what she was capable of doing that really brought her through this harsh ordeal. She didn’t give in to the diagnosis. She didn’t spend months feeling sorry for herself and fall into a deep depression of what her life might become without the use of her legs. Against the odds she used her mind and conviction to take her through the worse part of her life. Kay was in an induced coma for two weeks. Her mom Hayley, (my niece) believed she would come through and didn’t refrain from the thought that Kay would not only make it out of that coma but would walk once again.

When I asked Kay how she was able to keep such a strong constitution through this painful experience she responded that she had read our book, ‘Your Invincible Power, Open the Door to Unlimited Wealth, Health and Joy.’ I was overjoyed to hear this not because it is the book reviews, empowerment, motivational books "Miracles Do Happen. Left for Dead, The Kay Hicken Story"book I and W.T wrote together, but because this proves to me that it works. I got over rheumatoid arthritis and I am in complete health again, so I believed in the messages this book holds. Even so, it is wonderful to know others have been given the opportunity to change their experiences through Universal laws, as we have been.

My Thanks go to Kay Hicken for allowing me to share the miracles of her story with the world. Kay you inspire us all.

This story was aired on the program ‘Crime Watch.’ In spite of this fact, the driver has never been caught to date.
