Hair loss, it’s for other people, not for me right?
I’ve always had an impressive head of hair. Whether it was dreadlocks, afro, or cut short, no matter what I did my hair would always grow back. Last year I grew a fro and I was planning to grow dreads again. But I started to notice that my hair was getting thinner. By the beginning of summer I could see a bald patch at the top of my head. This was not good. How can I grow a fro or dreads with a bald spot?
By the end of the summer I could see that my hair was getting thin on top as well. I realized that my days of the fro where probably over. It was time to start wearing hats.
Now I know that hair loss can be directly related to stress.
It is one of the symptoms of stress. I also know that it can be caused by a lack of protein. These are factors that one must be aware of. But I do not believe I have much stress in my life. I live as many days as I can in the old Jamaican philosophy of “no problem man, everyting cool!” It is one of the ways I deal with stress.
Another way I deal with stress is to go to the gym and lift heavy things. I love to have a good heavy workout at the gym. I try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. When I don’t have time I try to do one of my 3 easy workouts (see my blog this website). So I don’t think that the hair loss is due to stress.
I also try to eat a lot of protein.
I make sure I have some type of meat every day with a heavy dose of chicken per week. I also try to eat veggies at least once a day. I am conscious of what I eat and I try to keep a healthy balanced diet with the exception of beer. Beer is my treat to myself. I may be seen from time to time with a cold beer in my hand.
Diet is another factor that can cause hair loss but I am not an expert, just an unwilling customer. Hair loss is something that can sneak up on you and say “surprise” when you least expect it or want it. Unfortunately, figuring out why you are losing hair is not so easy. There seems to be many factors for the cause with little solutions or remedies.
So now I am simply accepting that my hair is thinning out. My solution is to keep it short and wear hats more often.
I have big plans for 2015 and I can’t spend my precious mental energy on my hair loss. I practice Focused Thought & Focused thought requires you to stay focused on the things you want to have or experience no matter what else is happening in your life. Each hurdle or challenge is a test. It is testing your ability to stay focused. This is why I can’t spend my mental energy on my hair loss. I can only say this. Anything I can do with a full head of hair I can do with little or no hair.
Besides, I can always grow a nice beard!!!
