Allowing yourself to be happy:
From when knee high to a grasshopper we have been conditioned to making everyone but ourselves happy. Remember your mom saying, “I’m just not happy with you right now.” You may have done something she classed as naughty. And so you learned to be on guard to what would make her happy. Before you enter school you are told, “Always do what the teacher tells you.” You are given strong ideas that you are to make your teacher happy. And so it pretty much goes on this way throughout your life. You carry this with your friends, relatives, your lover and children and so on, but, do you ever stop in your day to say, “Am I pleasing me at this moment? Do I make myself happy?”
Quite often it is that voice that tells us, “It is selfish to please myself and always want to be happy.” This is called the voice of the ego. The ego never wants you to be in a comfortable place. In our book, Your Invincible Power, How to Tame the Ego and Fuel Your Ambition, we talk about the many ways the ego affects our lives, our decisions and our happiness. You can read an interview about the book here.
The ego doesn’t allow you to justify being mostly happy, in fact the ego would rather you were not happy at all. Isn’t that selfish to be happy when others are not? Says the ego.
The ego is that part of you that questions everything and places illogical messages where only logic should reign. It places old messages before you, you know the ones, they constantly remind you of your first obligation to please other people and your last to please yourself. This leads us to allow negative events, people and places to activate in our lives and then the happy life we so desire is not always within our possession, with some people I would go as far as saying never in their possession. This is why sometimes many people feel they have more negative days than positive ones.
This is why complaints become the natural order of the day. When a person isn’t happy there is much to gripe about. In fact complaints for some become their sole enjoyment. If they won’t allow themselves be happy the next best thing is to grumble about all the problems that life is offering. Isn’t this so logical? It is to the ego.
Regardless, there is a problem that comes with this, the more one grumbles about the troubles life seems to hold for them, the more troubled waters there will be. You see the Law of Attraction only gives to us what we talk about, and think about constantly.
Happiness should always come first. There should be more happy days than not and the way to bring them to you is to think happy thoughts.
In other words don’t buy into other people when they criticize, whine and blame others about their lives. One that condemns and loves to censure others are only placing their painful thoughts or feelings on you. It is their disguised form of the ego. When you join in you are not just joining them in conversation but also inviting their situation to be a part of your life. The Law of Attraction does not discriminate it doesn’t care who and what you are talking about it just mirrors it back. However, the ego does care and it will want you to join in. It wants you to be unhappy.
When you are happy first then and only then can happiness join you. It will show up in your life in all abundance. You will not need to fill the void because happiness always fills the void first and then all of the good stuff will join it.
From our book, Your Invincible Power, How to Say Goodbye to the Drama, speaks about numerous situation that you may have “going on” at this moment that may hinder happy days coming frequently. This is a part from that book:
“A good way to help you through any dramatic adversity is to find as many things, situations and people to appreciate in your life as possible. This is a way to lift your energy field. When you are able to do this you will find your problem change dramatically. It may even dissolve. If you can choose more things that can positively impact your life you will find the changes that life is offering you.”
Everyone on this planet deserves to be happy.
- Being Happy changes our personality and takes years away from our age.
- Being Happy is contagious; it often draws others in.
- Being Happy can lift you up to the higher energy field.
- Being Happy will deny the ego part of you.
So refuse to listen to that voice which says that you don’t deserve to be happy. Bring all the joy that life has to offer you.
Gratitude is the first, and the most easiest way to start on this path of continuous happiness. So start your happy life today, use gratitude and look for all the things that you appreciate which makes you happy from moment to moment. You will see great changes take place in your life.
“Thousands of candles can be lit from one single candle and the life of that candle will not be shortened, happiness never decreases by being shared.” The Buddha

Authors Pamela and W.T. Hamilton have written a wonderful book about losing the drama as a part of their “Your Invincible Power” series. They take a look at drama by framing it in the light of negative of positive emotions, and thus energy. The authors give some valuable tools for both changing an ingrained mindset and for dealing with external drama that still exists in everyday life. A great read and guidebook for anyone who is ready to kick drama to the curb.
